It’s time for more Merit & Ethan!! Yay!

blood gamesdrey’s thoughts:

Ok. Let me start by stating that it’s just about impossible to write a spoiler-free review, since this is the tenth in the series. I mean, y’all want something other than “more Merit & Ethan, yay!!)” right? Consider yourselves warned…

Cadogan House has settled down a bit from events in the previous few books, and life seems to be getting somewhat back to normal. At least, in that the only nagging worry is about how the Greenwich Presidium (GP) – a.k.a. the ruling body for the vampire – will respond to Ethan’s challenge.

Then the leader of the GP is seen wandering Chicago. Things get a bit cloak-and-dagger-y and drama shows up in the form of pasts-coming-to-bite-you-in-the-ass, both of which intrigue and frustrate Merit, respectively. I still like Merit, she’s getting better at her timing in all things snark and kick-assery, and she still knows just how to push Ethan’s buttons. When it’s called for, of course. ;) Though, where oh where is the food? There’s lots of mention of food, but it seems not a lot of actually eating said food. :(

Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires is still one of my favorite urban fantasy series, and Blood Games has the requisite action and romance (my above complaint notwithstanding). The story progresses, the characters grow, and now I’m wondering what’s going to be in store for the next book. Neill shakes up the vampires’ political and power structure, and I can’t wait to see what she rolls out in its place. Can I get Dark Debt now, please? March is soooo far away…

drey’s rating: Excellent!
