Review: 89. House Immortal by Devon Monk…

Devon Monk’s first in a new series is a fun action-packed story that I absolutely loved and can’t wait to get more of!

house immortaldrey’s thoughts:

I love urban fantasy as a genre, and I especially love it when there are specific elements. A heroine who’s strong and brooks no nonsense. A (possible) hero who can let her be who she is without wanting to or needing to change her. A cast of supporting characters who bring out different parts of the story. A story that holds my attention and interest with action and character development. And House Immortal has it all in spades.

Excellent backstory & background – check. Well-built characters – check. Political wrangling – check. Double-crosses – check. Medical experiments – check. House Immortal brings Frankenstein into a new world, and Devon Monk puts it together excellently! There’s so much I want to say about Matilda Case and the twelve galvanized, about the Houses who fight for power and control, about a crazy megalomaniac whose chase for immortality threatens everything and everyone Tilly cares about. But I won’t, because I want you to read the book. So go, pick it up, and make sure you reserve enough time for uninterrupted reading. ;)

When can I get my grubby mitts on the next book? *whine*

drey’s rating: Excellent!
